About Zues

Meet Zeus! If enthusiasm were an Olympic sport, Zeus would be bringing home the gold. This 11-year-old, 12-pound Dachshund was rescued from a home with more than 40 dogs, but you'd never know it from the way he approaches life. Zeus wakes up every day like it's the greatest day he's ever hadand he's determined to make the most of every second. Being around Zeus is like watching someone discover the world for the very first time. Every walk, every meal, every cuddle, every new experience is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to him. And honestly? It's impossible not to smile when you're around him. Zeus has what his foster lovingly describes as "main character energy." He wants to be involved in everything, meet everyone, and receive all the affection available. No amount of pets is ever enough. If another dog happens to be getting attention, don't be surprised if Zeus politely inserts himself into the situation so he can join the party too. Despite his larger-than-life personality, Zeus doesn't have a single mean bone in his body. He loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and genuinely seems to believe that everyone he meets is a friend. There is, however, one thing Zeus loves almost as much as attention: food. After spending years wondering where his next meal might come from, Zeus approaches food with unmatched enthusiasm. He has absolutely no impulse control when snacks are involved and may attempt to investigate what everyone else is eating, too. It's not aggressionjust pure excitement and a dog who still can't quite believe food is always going to be there. The good news? He shares his own food bowl just fine and responds well to structure and redirection. Zeus is house trained, puppy pad trained, crate trained, and travels well. He's still working on leash skills. What makes Zeus so special isn't just his personalityit's his outlook. After everything he's experienced, Zeus has chosen joy. He greets each day with optimism, curiosity, and a zest for life that is completely contagious. He reminds everyone around him to appreciate the simple things: a good meal, a nice walk, a warm bed, and people who love you. After spending years as one of many, Zeus is finally getting the chance to be the star of his own story. And trust ushe's more than ready for the role.
