Meet Casimir! This handsome mixed breed boy with soft eyes, long ears and a lovely fawn colored coat found himself at the shelter confused, unsure and decided the shelter kennel was a safe space. It took some patience and convincing to get him out to show him that the world outside the kennel is a safe place and that the people that want to help him are in his corner. He would like to find safe spaces in the yard at first, and it took him a bit to engage with volunteers. More and more he realized that he could move at his own pace, and that pets and treats are a good thing. Casimir still has a shy submissive side to him but he also has a wiggly happy side that he shows once he is comfortable. While he does love to get some attention, he is still getting used to pets on his side, and his back so slow approaches are best. He also can get startled by fast movements but will rebound once given reassurance that all is well. He really is a loving boy that is playing it safe. He does well on walks and his tail will wag when he sees people walks by. He has done well in the yard with dogs he has met at the shelter, and we feel that having another confident dog around might help him succeed in his transition into a home.
