About Miles

A060943 Miles; intact male Border Collie mix; age 2 years ; est. 41.40 lbs Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services (209)754-6509 Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/ Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov Is anyone out there looking for a pupper whose sweetness is instantly apparent and constantly on tap? A cuddly canine who could easily be trained up as a therapy dog? Darling Miles may be just the ticket but make sure you brush your teeth after encountering him because this guy is a walking sugar cookie! If it sounds like Miles is melting hearts left and right over here, you'd be correct. He has been great with other dogs, curious and happy to meet them all. With new people, he is friendly and affectionate. At times, he can be the teensiest bit hesitant upon initial approach, but he warms up in like three seconds to pretty much everybody. On morning walkies, Miles is pleasant on leash. He is not really a puller, though he's interested in all the scents and sights out on our sniff-faris. He sits calmly, gazing at us with those beautiful amber eyes, and he takes treats oh-so-gently. Frequently, he walks in literal contact with our legs, which is adorable and we love it, though we do have to be careful not to trip over him or step on his toes. He may be feeling the need to herd us protectively, as is his inborn right as a particularly handsome package of herding breeds. Baaaaaa... Miles came in with his dog buddy Rufus (also available for adoption), and would probably do well with another dog in the home (or hey, adopt them both!). We would certainly recommend that Miles be given plenty of time and attention. He's a sensitive, social fellow who needs his pack. He'd probably pine if left alone for long periods. Miles is a gem of a dog who will thrive best with a family that wants to shower him with affection and treasure him for the sweetie-pie cuddle-bug that he is. Miles will need to be neutered before he can go home with you. He keeps his kennel tidy; though we can't make guarantees, he may be easy to house train. We do not have information on his attitude toward cats at this time. As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
