About Gus

Gus - 2 Years Old - American Pit Bull Terrier - Brindle Gus has one speed: full love. This 2-year-old brindle boy is outgoing, affectionate, and absolutely convinced he's a lap dog and honestly, we don't have the heart to tell him otherwise. He lives for snuggles, belly rubs, and being as close to his people as possible. His tail hasn't stopped wagging since the day he arrived, and it won't stop until he finds his forever home. What makes Gus truly special is how well-rounded he is. He's great with cats, dogs, kids, and adults this boy genuinely loves everyone he meets. Whether you have a full, busy household or it's just the two of you, Gus will fit right in and make himself at home immediately. At a perfect medium size not too big, not too small he's just right for almost any living situation. If you're looking for a loyal shadow who will follow you from room to room, curl up next to you on the couch, and love you like you've always been his person Gus is your guy. A note about Gus's health: Gus has tested heartworm positive and will need to go through treatment before he can be fully cleared. The good news? TWRDA is covering the full cost of his treatment. His adopter won't pay a dime just open your heart and your home, and we'll handle the rest. Heartworm treatment does require a period of rest and restricted activity, so his future family should be prepared to provide a calm, loving environment during his recovery. A few things to know about Gus: - Good with cats - Good with dogs (see note below) - Good with kids - Affectionate and people-oriented - Medium size adaptable to most homes - Heart worm positive treatment fully covered by TWRDA - Neuter appointment scheduled for 7/2/26 Regarding other dogs in the home: Gus can absolutely live with other dogs, but because he is heartworm positive, any dogs in the household must be current on heartworm prevention. Proof of heartworm prevention will be required prior to adoption. This is a non-negotiable requirement to protect the other animals in your home. Gus is available through Together We Rescue Detroit Animals (TWRDA), a foster-based 501(c)(3) rescue serving the Metro Detroit area. To apply, visit rescuedetroitanimals.com.
