AvailableAbout Starla
Hi, my name is Starla! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home: -Personality: Bold, sweet & sassy, independent, affectionate, chatty, quirky -Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, but she does tend to hiss at other cats in the shelter. She would probably prefer being the only kitty in the home. -Can Live with Dogs: Unknown history - will need proper introductions to ensure everyone gets along. Rough/rowdy dogs are likely too scary! -Can Live with Kids: No thanks. Starla may do okay with older teenagers (ages 15+), but she would probably prefer a quiet adult-only home. -Needs Indoor Only Home: Not required but always recommended. -History of Litter Box Issues: She had some accidents when she first arrived at the shelter, but since switching to clay litter she's been using her box just fine. -Energy Level: Medium/high -Bite History: No -Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay Additional Information: Starla is a little lady with a BIG personality. She's pretty unsure about almost everything and is still learning that the world isn't so scary. Starla is easily overwhelmed/overstimulated, which results in her being pretty sassy sometimes. She has been known to hiss and swat if you invade her space or stress her out, but to be fair she's in a pretty stressful environment. Once comfortable, Starla is actually VERY affectionate (but it has to be on her terms). We think she'll be an entirely different cat once she's had time to settle into her new home, but in the meantime her adopters will need to be patient and respectful of her boundaries. Starla needs a CAT-EXPERIENCED adopter who's not afraid of a little sass and knows how to read feline body language. This sweet girl is likely to bond strongly to her person and be an affectionate companion once she's had time to decompress. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
