For six years, I had a person. My person. The only one I've ever known. I had a home. A routine. A place where I belonged. Every morning I knew who I'd wake up next to. Every evening I knew who I'd be waiting for. I thought it would always be that way. But life had other plans. My owner became terminally ill and could no longer care for me. And because she loved me so much, she made the heartbreaking decision to let me come to WAG so I could have a chance at finding another family. A chance at another happy ending. So here I am. Trying to be brave. Trying to be hopeful. And hoping that somewhere out there is another person to love. ABOUT ME German Shepherd / Chocolate Lab Mix Sometimes called a "Shepherdore" 6 years old Just under 60 lbs My mom was an AKC German Shepherd. My dad was an AKC Chocolate Lab. But honestly? I think my gorgeous chocolate coat and adorable face are much more important than my pedigree. THINGS I LOVE Tennis balls Kiddie pools Water of any kind Car rides Walks Cuddles Adventures Spending time with my people If there's water nearby... I'm probably already in it. And if there's a tennis ball nearby? Please throw it. Immediately. Thank you. WHY PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE WITH ME Never met a stranger Friendly and affectionate Wonderful with people Great with kids Dog friendly Wonderful leash manners Great recall Knows basic commands Crate trained Not destructive Rides beautifully in the car Happy and easygoing Loves attention and affection I would love to go everywhere with you. Errands? I'm in. Road trip? Let's go. Walk around town? Count me in. Movie night on the couch? I'll bring the cuddles. THE TRUTH IS... I don't need much. I don't need fancy things. I don't need a huge house. I don't even need someone home every minute of every day. I just want what I used to have. A person. A family. A place where I belong. Because even though everyone at WAG has been so kind to me... I still miss being somebody's girl. ONE MORE THING... Sometimes when I move somewhere new, I might cry or howl when I'm left alone at first. Maybe more than a little. Can you blame me? My whole world changed. The person I loved disappeared from my daily life. The home I knew was suddenly gone. That's a lot for a girl to understand. But once I learn that I'm safe... Once I learn that my new people always come back... I settle beautifully. In fact, after just one week at WAG, I stopped completely and became the happy, quiet girl everyone knows and loves. Because underneath it all, I'm just a good dog looking for somewhere to belong again.
