Hello, I'm MiMi! As you may have noticed, I'm a beautiful tortoiseshell lady, which means I'm blessed with both stunning looks and a little extra personality. Don't worry-I've decided to use my powers for good. I'm a sweet, gentle girl who enjoys the quieter things in life. Soft beds, kind people, gentle pets, and peaceful afternoons are all high on my list of favorite things. I can be a little shy when meeting new friends, but with patience and kindness, I'll happily show you what a loving companion I can be. I have tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but before you let that scare you away, I have a little secret: I can still live a happy, healthy life and be a wonderful pet! In fact, many FIV-positive cats live long, normal lives with good care. If you already have cats at home, that's not necessarily a problem. FIV-positive cats can often live safely with FIV-negative cats, especially in stable homes where everyone gets along. If I join a feline family, I'll just need a slow introduction so we can get to know each other properly and start things off on the right paw. What I'm really looking for is a family who sees me for who I am-not just a test result. I'm a sweet girl with lots of love to give, and I'm hoping my future person will take a moment to learn more about FIV and give me the chance I deserve. Could that person be you? This cat is an APPOINTMENT ONLY adoption at our homebase location. Please TEXT or EMAIL only (509) 481-1769 or Adoptions@spokanimal.org DISCLAIMER: Adoption appointments do not guarantee specific cats, they are a reservation to view the current adoptable cats in our Meow Meadows room. What is FIV? FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a cat-only virus that affects a cat's immune system. It cannot be transmitted to people, dogs, or any other non-feline pets. Many FIV-positive cats live long, happy, healthy lives and require no special medications simply because they are FIV-positive. FIV is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds, which is why it is often found in cats that have experienced fights in the past. Casual contact such as sharing food and water bowls, using the same litter box, grooming one another, or sleeping together is considered very low risk. Because of this, many FIV-positive cats successfully live with FIV-negative cats in stable homes where the cats get along well. Caring for an FIV-positive cat is often much like caring for any other cat. Regular veterinary care, a nutritious diet, keeping them indoors, and monitoring for signs of illness are the most important things you can do. Please reach out to us with any questions!
