About Koala

Meet Koala A Gentle Soul Learning to Feel Safe Quick Facts: Age: 2 Years Gender: Female Vaccinations: Up to date Spayed/Neutered: Yes FeLV & FIV: Negative Microchipped: Yes House Trained: Yes Good With: Cats, Dogs, Respectful children Koala came to the Oswego County SPCA from a severe hoarding situation and is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. This beautiful girl is incredibly sweet, but she needs a family willing to move at her pace. Sudden movements and unexpected noises can startle her, and when she feels overwhelmed, her first instinct is to find a safe place to hide. She may hiss when she's frightened or caught off guard, but it is important to know that Koala is all bluff and no bite. She has never shown any desire to hurt anyoneshe simply needs time to feel secure again. Despite everything she has been through, Koala's loving personality shines through more every day. She adores gentle scratches behind her ears and will often roll over, nudge your hand, and soak up every bit of affection you're willing to give. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly cuddly. While being picked up isn't her favorite thing, she will happily snuggle into your arms and purr when she realizes she's being loved rather than bothered. Koala loves her wet food, especially when it's offered in a cozy hiding spot where she feels safe enough to enjoy it. Recently, she's started making incredible progress in foster care. There have even been mornings when she chose affection over breakfast, rubbing against her foster's legs, climbing into their lap during litter box cleaning, and asking for pets before eating. For a cat like Koala, those moments are huge victories. She isn't especially interested in toys, though she has occasionally been caught batting around a toy mouse. Most of the time, she's perfectly content to relax in a comfy bed, quietly watching the people she loves while purring softly to herself. Koala is looking for a patient, understanding home that will celebrate the small victories and give her the time she needs to continue healing. In return, she'll reward you with the privilege of watching a frightened cat discover what it means to feel safe, loved, and cherished. If You're Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know... The world can still feel a little scary sometimes. Loud noises and surprises make me nervous, and I might run and hide until I feel brave again. But if you're patient with me, you'll discover that I'm really just a soft-hearted girl who wants to be loved. My favorite thing is having my ears scratched while I lean into your hand and purr. Sometimes I even roll over for extra attention. I may not be the first cat to greet visitors at the door, but when I trust you, I'll happily curl up nearby, watch everything you're doing, and remind you just how special it is to earn the love of a gentle soul.
