Inside the house, Canela is a professional couch potato, lap warmer, and full-time velcro dog. If you're looking for personal space, Canela would respectfully prefer that you reconsider. She loves being close to her people and is happiest when she can follow you from room to room, supervise your daily activities, and curl up beside you whenever you sit down. Outside, however, she transforms into an Olympic-level track star with places to be and squirrels to investigate. She wants to zoom around and explore. Because of her speedy nature and adventurous spirit, she can be a flight risk and will need a family committed to keeping her safe and secure, that is careful about doors, gates, and leash safety. Canela is wonderfully portable and enjoys being carried, making her an excellent companion for outings and adventures. She settles nicely in her crate overnight and sleeps through the night like a champ. Like many young dogs, Canela is still working on her housetraining and learning that not everything needs to be announced with a bark. She'll do best with a patient adopter who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build confidence. When it comes to other dogs, Canela can be a bit feisty with those she doesn't know, especially from afar. She prefers proper introductions and appreciates having time to decide whether new canine acquaintances meet her standards. She might do best in a home without other dogs.
