About Maria
Meet Maria! Maria is a lovely 4-year-old Rottweiler with a remarkable story of resilience and second chances. Weighing approximately 80 pounds, Maria was found as a stray with serious injuries, likely after being struck by a vehicle. After receiving surgery for a broken femur and care at a city shelter, she has fully recovered and is now enjoying foster care while waiting for her forever family. Sweet and well-mannered, Maria is both house and crate trained. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, walks beautifully on a leash, and takes treats gently. While she isn't a frequent barker, she'll alert you when someone arrives. Though affectionate and loving, Maria is naturally cautious and needs time to warm up to new people. She will thrive in a patient home that respects her boundaries and understands her need for gradual introductions. Once that bond is formed, her loyalty shines. A calm household with children aged 16 and older would be best, as they can respect her space. While Maria can be happy as a solo dog, she’d also enjoy having a canine buddy her size or larger. With her bit of an alpha personality, proper introductions and confident leadership will be important. She's not suited for homes with small dogs. A family that works from home or spends a lot of time around will be ideal, as Maria loves companionship. Keep an eye on snacks—she’s a bit of a counter surfer. Spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative, Maria shows an incredible capacity for love and trust despite her challenges. If you're looking for a loyal companion willing to give a deserving dog the time she needs, Maria could be the perfect fit for your family. Could you be the family Maria has been waiting for?
