About Bernie

Meet Bernie, our sweet little comeback kid! Originally adopted in May 2025, he has returned to our care as an owner surrender. This was through no fault of his own; Bernie developed demodex, a treatable skin condition, which unfortunately progressed without proper care. Demodex mites live on almost all healthy dogs, and while prevention isn’t possible, controlling their growth is essential. With immune support and the right treatments, Bernie is on his way back to being the fluffy, adorable guy he once was. To keep him healthy, he’ll need a nutritious diet, regular parasite control, and current vaccinations. Bernie is now ready for a fresh start. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and great with kids. He has previously lived with other dogs and even shared space with a cat. This tiny, loving companion weighs just 13 pounds but has a heart as big as they come. He loves cuddling, has a fondness for socks, and enjoys his stuffed pig toy. As part of our adoption process, all dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Adopters are encouraged to establish veterinary care promptly to maintain their pet’s health. Remember the 3-3-3 rule: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to settle in, and 3 months to build trust. Bernie’s adoption fee is $80, and we’re open for in-person visits at Iredell County Animal Services & Control Department. Come give Bernie the loving home he deserves! What are you waiting for?
