Max
AvailableMax is a young male German Shepherd, just 6 months old. He has a sable coat and is altered and fully vaccinated. While Max has special needs, including partial blindness and a learning disability, he’s making great strides in his foster home in Champaign, IL. He loves being around people and other animals and is learning well despite requiring a patient handler. His soft and affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion.
About Max
Max is a 6-month-old German Shepherd with some special needs. Before joining us, he experienced seizures, but has not had any episodes since arriving in our care. Max is partially blind, likely only seeing shadows and nearby objects. Following this assessment, we plan further evaluations at a veterinary neurology center. He also has some neurological challenges that may affect his learning speed, but with patience and dedicated training, he can still learn like any other dog. This sweet boy has been adjusting in his foster home, where he lives with three dogs and two cats — and he gets along wonderfully with them. Max thrives on routine, and while he will need time to adapt, he is already working on potty training and crate manners. Max loves his pup cups, peanut butter lick mats, and bigger stuffed toys. He enjoys outdoor time and is affectionate, getting excited when his humans return at the end of the day. If you’re patient and willing to invest time in his training, Max will be a loving companion. Since he’s currently in a foster home, he’s not at the shelter. If you’re interested, please apply online, and once approved, we can arrange a time for you to meet him!
