About Patty & Selma

Meet Patty & Selma, a devoted pair of sisters who landed at the shelter after being abandoned and left to face rough weather on their own. When staff finally coaxed them to safety, Patty & Selma were thin, nervous, and unsure, the strain of past hardship clear in every careful step. Within days, though, their spirits surfaced—they turned out to be sweet, affectionate, and deeply bonded, quickly seeking each other out for comfort even when separated. These girls absolutely need to be placed together. Their bond is remarkable, and it’s held them steady through instability. Patty & Selma are about a year old and fully grown, with Patty weighing 16.5 lbs and Selma at 21.5 lbs. They’ll both stay under 25 lbs. While their breed isn’t confirmed, they look much like Puggle mixes (Pug and Beagle blend). Their confidence is still emerging, so they need adopters who understand shy dogs and have a calm, patient home. A prior dog owner or someone experienced with gentle, gradual training would be a great match. They haven’t had exposure to cats and should avoid homes with them for now. They’re working on the basics—like house training, walking on leash, and everyday manners—so consistency and a slow pace are important. Older, dog-savvy kids may be fine, as long as they understand boundaries. A fenced yard is handy for gentle exploration, though their size and moderate energy means they could also adjust to apartment living with daily exercise. They are spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Adoptive families should be aware that Patty & Selma are located in Texas and will be transported after adoption is finalized—meaning adopters will not meet them in person first. They’re just waiting for a family to keep them together, provide a steady home, and show them what it means to be safe for life. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
