About Cocoa
Cocoa is a petite 16-month-old, weighing about 23 pounds, with a big heart carved out of adversity. She started her life in rough circumstancesāspending her first eight months confined in Saint Luciaābut since being rescued, she's shown more progress than anyone could have imagined. At her foster home, Cocoa quickly learned there is warmth in the world: she loves playing with other dogs, settles in for sleep without fuss, and enjoys leash walks with her foster family. Cocoa is fully potty trained, and her favorite activities range from high-speed zoomies and gravity-defying leaps to snuggling up close for affectionate downtime. She craves the company of a playful, confident canine companion and flourishes when she has another dog to guide her. Thereās still an anxious side to Cocoa, a reminder of her beginnings, so she needs a patient, understanding adopterāone who can provide steady, gentle support as she continues to learn what it means to trust and thrive. A fenced yard is highly recommended for her freedom and safety, as sheās not ready to be off leash just yet. Cocoa will do best with a present family who wonāt leave her alone for long, ideally with prior experience supporting anxious or rescue dogs. In return for patience and kindness, she offers a loyal companionship filled with playful antics and sweet moments. Cocoaās past was tough, but the right family will see just how much love she has left to give. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
