About Duke

Duke is three years old and solidly built, but nobody told him he’s not a lap dog. His personal space boundaries disappear when he’s with people he cares about—sit down anywhere near him and you can expect a gentle, inch-by-inch nudge until he’s at least halfway in your lap. Duke leans in for scratches like it’s his birthright. He’s a big body with a quietly sincere heart who’ll watch you cook dinner with those soft, grateful eyes. Duke came through a tough patch. After nearly losing everything to pneumonia, he learned that humans can in fact be safe. Now, he bonds deeply—sometimes staring at you in awe just for putting on his leash. He’s crate trained and sees his crate as his own spot. Walking is a highlight, and so is play time with other dogs; he’d probably play tug-of-war all afternoon if allowed. He’s not destructive, doesn’t throw fits when left alone, and is picking up obedience basics for the reward of treats, though he’ll pass on hot dogs every time. This dog’s seeking someone who knows their way around large breeds and will keep showing him patience as he adapts. He gets along great with other dogs, but no verdict on cats yet. All medical care is finished, so you just need to be ready for lots of loyalty and a little extra weight on your legs. Maybe Duke is the one you’ve been searching for?
