About Sunho

Sunho arrives from South Korea on June 7th. This sweet three-year-old survived a kill shelter and narrowly missed being sent to a dog meat farm. The reality for many dogs like Sunho is grim—many are confined for years in wire cages, bred repeatedly, and face a future in the meat trade. In South Korea, Jindos and Tosas are most commonly raised for this purpose, but Sunho is a resilient Tibetan Terrier/Wheaten Terrier mix who beat the odds. The dog meat trade persists in parts of South Korea, with some restaurants serving dishes like bosintang, though attitudes are thankfully changing among younger generations. Thanks to devoted partners and international rescue efforts, Sunho and a few of his friends made their journey to California where they can finally have a shot at real family life. Sunho is one of the lucky ones—he’s alive, friendly, and ready for a home that will treat him with love and respect.
