About Shaggy

Shaggy is a small 9½-pound Chihuahua–Terrier mix rescued from a tough start in Texas, where he lived outside among other dogs and dealt with fleas and ticks. His early days at the rescue revealed a cautious side—he kept his guard up and wasn't sure about people. Soon enough, though, Shaggy started to understand he was safe. He relaxed, and that gentle, sweet personality began to surface. Shaggy is about three to four years old and needs a quieter environment with adults or older teens, where he can settle in at his own pace. It’s important to know he needs time to warm up to new people. He isn’t house trained yet, but he does well with other dogs. He has a short apricot and fawn coat that’s easy to care for. Health-wise, he’s heartworm-negative and Chagas-negative, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. What Shaggy craves most is a soft lap and someone patient—a calm spot to finally call home. He's currently in Hondo, TX, and ready for transport to Chelsea, MI on June 20th. Ready to make a difference for this little guy? Click apply to start the adoption process.
