About Gretchen
Gretchen Weiners knows her mind and doesn’t apologize for it. Think chihuahua spirit with hints of Papillon spunk—she’s about five years old and tips the scales at just 6 lbs. Early life wasn’t easy for Gretchen, so these days she leans on the comfort of routine and craves calm, predictable days. She accepts affection when she wants it but is more likely to lounge on a pillow than demand your full attention. You won’t find her underfoot—she has her own agenda, and she’ll let you in (sometimes) if you’re patient. Her classic chihuahua independence is balanced with moments of coziness; she’ll take a good pet and join you for a cuddle when the mood strikes. Gretchen is house trained and kennel trained. Due to her petite size and need for consistent structure, she’s a poor fit for homes with kids, so everyone must be 16 or older. She tolerates other calm, low-energy dogs but doesn’t do well with high excitement or busy homes. Her stress behaviors (including the occasional tail chase) mean any canine housemates need to be mellow and pretty indifferent. She’s also absolutely fine as the only dog, happy to reign solo as Queen of her domain. Gretchen isn’t here to make fetch happen, but she will share her company on her terms. Your home just might be her new safe place. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
