About Arthur
Arthur fits the classic lap dog mold. The second you sit, he’s at your side—or perched right on your leg. He craves attention and finds easy ways to ask for it, like gently paws when he wants a little more of your focus. Arthur listens well and creates strong attachments to his favorite people. He can get possessive, sometimes barking or growling when another dog tries for your attention. He can, though, live happily alongside other dogs as long as he still feels included and loved. He clearly once belonged to someone: at night, he hops into bed willingly, finds his person, and snuggles close until morning. Despite his passionate nature, Arthur is gentle and affectionate in every interaction, and his foster mom has high praise after spending time with him. Noise doesn’t phase Arthur; mowers or weed eaters barely catch his interest. Initially rescued as a stray with Tommy, he’s been successfully crate trained, although his foster doesn’t find crating necessary. Now thriving in foster care in Northern West Virginia—transport possible for the right fit—Arthur is looking for a home that wants a loyal, loving dog who just wants to be close. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Arthur
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Arthur, as an Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler and Rat Terrier mix, tends to do well in homes where he gets plenty of companionship and mental stimulation. He'll thrive best in a setting that offers both indoor comfort and a safe, secure area for play.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A medium-sized yard or regular visits to a park suit Arthur’s breed mix. He enjoys exploring but is also happy relaxing with his person, so a fenced area or active walking routine works well.
