About Rupert

Rupert is a two-year-old, medium-coated German Shepherd mix who has already weathered more than most dogs ever will. He survived on his own in the desert with a leg injury from unknown causes, and his journey included the discovery of five BB pellets embedded in his remaining leg—reminders of a rough start. His injured leg was removed, but Rupert moves forward, undeterred, and now those BBs mark just one chapter in his story. Personality-wise, Rupert balances a playful spark with calm energy. He lights up around other large dogs, showing his happiest and most social side. He's naturally affectionate and trusting with women. With older men, he’s more timid—preferring to keep his distance if he feels unsure. Rupert has kept his gentle heart, good nature, and an openness to give and receive love in spite of everything. He needs a home ready to embrace his resilience, respect his boundaries, and offer the patience that fosters a true sense of belonging. Rupert does best with those who understand what it means to heal—someone willing to let him set the pace. Every animal deserves kindness, and he’s ready to experience it in a forever home.
