About Peanut

Peanut is a small Shih Tzu mix with a long, red and cream coat who beat the odds. Picked up as an emaciated stray at just 4 months old, Peanut fought his way back from 2.3 pounds to a healthy, lively little guy. Now at 8 months, he’s outgoing, affectionate, and quick to make friends with everyone—kids, other dogs, even cats. His favorite things are playing, cuddling up after a day of fun, and meeting new people. Peanut is still working on his potty training but making solid headway. He’s already been neutered and has his vaccinations up to date. Peanut is being fostered in McAllen, Texas, but can be adopted throughout much of the East Coast thanks to private transport. No meet and greets—adopters meet Peanut at a designated drop-off location after approval. If you’re looking for a resilient, loving companion who is ready for a new adventure, Peanut is waiting for a family who will finally give him the home he deserves. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
