About Rufus
Rufus has weathered a lot, but he keeps showing up anyway. He’s a 2-year-old German Shepherd—big, long-coated, about 94 pounds, and fiercely loyal to his people. Twice adopted, twice abandoned, Rufus still chooses connection, even after coming in as a stray with a tight shock collar that left wounds around his neck. Despite all that, he remained kind and trusting with everyone he met. Now Rufus is healing in safety and looking for someone steady—someone unfazed by his size, who wants him for good. He loves to be near people, wants to participate in daily life, and gets along well with other dogs. He’s unphased by a busy household and has lived in a home before. He is not yet house trained, so some patience and consistency will go far. What Rufus wants is simple: to stay, and to give everything he has to the right person or family. This steadfast dog is ready for his fresh start. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
