About Rusty
Rusty is an almost five-year-old Border Collie and Standard Poodle mix—what some call a Borderdoodle—who’s tall, long-legged, and sports a soft gray and white coat. Born on June 4, he’s a Gemini, so it’s no wonder he’s clever and tuned in to his people. Rusty bonds deeply and wants to be around his family as much as possible; he’s the type that quietly grieves long hours alone. He thrives on companionship and likes to be included in the daily rhythm, not shuffled off to a kennel or left in the yard. In the house, Rusty is calm and mannerly. He’s fully house trained with a gentle, patient demeanor around children and enjoys their company. Affectionate and loyal, he seeks out snuggles and likes to be close to his pack. Around familiar people and dogs, he’s friendly. He knows how to alert appropriately if someone new is around and is always ready to learn, thanks to his working-breed mind. Rusty requires daily play, engagement, and a home where someone’s usually around to comfort him—especially during storms, when his anxiety can peak. He won’t do well with a first-time owner; experience with large, intelligent breeds is a must. He’s neutered and up to date on shots, with a low-shedding, almost hypoallergenic coat that’s soft to the touch. Rusty’s looking for a committed home that understands his needs, and he’s waiting in Gulfport, MS for the right person to find him. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
