About Whiskers

Gender: Male, Neutered Age: 1.5 years old Estimated DOB: 9/1/24 Intake date: 3/5/26 Personality: Whiskers is a very sweet boy and purrs very loudly! He wants to be with people. When he was in quarantine, if you walked by his kennel, he would paw at you to get you to stop and pet him. He is laid-back - enjoys looking out windows, sitting on your lap, lounging around. He enjoys string toys and laser pointers. He does not do a good enough job keeping his coat kempt so he needs an adopter who will brush him daily. Around other cats: He's ok with other cats once he's adjusted to them being around. Will hiss/grumble at first but nothing more. He will cuddle with other cats once he knows them better. Around dogs: Is curious about dogs but hasn't spent one-on-one time with one. He would likely adjust well to one. Around kids: Unknown but he would likely do well with kids Background: Came to us from another rescue that does TNR (trap, neuter, release). When they trapped him and discovered he was friendly, they asked us to help. He was in quarantine for over a month with a terrible upper respiratory infection that was not responsive to commonly used antibiotics. He was sneezing snot rockets all the time and would have to breathe with his mouth open. Despite that, he still ate/drank well. The vet wasn't concerned because of that and we switched to a 4-week antibiotic that finally worked! Once his URI was treated and he was off antibiotics for 2 weeks, he went to the Pawsitive Cat Cafe. Vetting done: Neutered, FVRCP vaccine series completed, Rabies vaccinated, combo test negative for Feline Leukemia but positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), microchipped, dewormed. Concerns: Medical: FIV+. Because of this, he is more susceptible to upper respiratory infections, other infections like UTIs and he will likely need a dental sooner than a non-FIV+ cat would. Dentals are very important for FIV+ kitties. He does not currently need one, though. Behavioral: None Location: Pawsitive Cat Cafe Address: 115 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14604 Adopt: https://form.jotform.com/rightmeowrescue/adoption-application
