Meet Peanut! Peanut is a sweet 9-year-old Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix weighing just under 8 pounds, with a soft apricot coat and an even softer heart. After sadly losing her beloved owner, Peanut found her way to DogWorks and is now looking for a new family to love. This little lady is the perfect combination of affectionate and independent. She enjoys following her people from room to room, keeping them company throughout the day, but she's also happy to curl up in a cozy dog bed or on a soft blanket for a nap. One of Peanut's cutest habits is rolling upside down in the grass and soaking up all the attention she can get. Belly rubs are her absolute favorite! Peanut gets excited when she sees her leash because she loves going for walks, and she's also a wonderful passenger in the car. She is crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and is nearly fully house trained with only occasional accidents. At bedtime, she happily settles into her crate with a treat, a blanket over the crate, and a little background music. While Peanut can be a bit reserved when meeting new people, she warms up once she gets to know you and becomes a loyal, loving companion. She gets along well with other dogs and could enjoy having a canine friend, but she'd also be perfectly content as your one-and-only furry companion. She has been around cats without showing much interest. Peanut isn't much for toys or games—she'd much rather spend her time relaxing with her family and getting plenty of affection. Like many dogs, she's not a big fan of the vacuum cleaner, and if something makes her uncomfortable, she may let out a growl to express herself. She also prefers to eat her meals in peace and can be protective of food when she's in her crate. Her ideal home would be one where she can enjoy leisurely walks, plenty of companionship, and lots of love. A fenced yard would be a bonus since she enjoys exploring and running around outdoors, but a home committed to regular walks could also be a great fit.
