Lettuce is being cared for in one of our wonderful foster homes, so we know him very well. This one-year-old loves to show off that he still has kitten energy! He’s a long haired cat with a gorgeous coat that he grooms meticulously, and a cute fluffy belly that he’ll gladly show off after getting into a little catnip. Lettuce is shy and is still working on his fear of hands, so he may hiss when you enter the room or move/approach him unexpectedly, but he’s never even swatted. He would thrive in a quiet home with a patient, cat-experienced adopter. We think that with continued socialization, Lettuce will blossom and express his playful and sweet personality. Lettuce’s three favorite things are his fishing pole toy, catnip, and churus. He spends most of his time lounging and you can usually find him comfortably loafed up or sprawled out on a blanket or chair, slow blinking at you. But when it’s play time, Lettuce loves to jump in the air for his fishing pole toy (watch the video!), scratch his scratching post and entertain himself with the pom pom attached to it, and flop around while pawing at his toys. He loves a bit of catnip in the evening and it will make him happily roll around on the floor. And in the morning or when he’s feeling calm and sleepy, he enjoys a churu from his trusted person, and may accept some gentle chin and head scratches while eating it. Lettuce will do best in a home that is quiet and low traffic. He would benefit from an adopter who understands he isn’t going to be a snuggly cat right away, or perhaps ever—but he’ll communicate his love with a cozy loaf and a slow blink, a little trot over to sprawl out on the carpet closer to you while you watch TV, or a pair of excited eyes eager to play with you each night.
