Zion is a true charmer who is quick to steal your heart! Zion is estimated to be around 3 months old and is a playful and affectionate little guy. He is a moderate-energy pup who is always down for some fun, but also loves his cuddle time. He loves adventure and making new friends along the way. Zion currently weighs about 13lbs and we estimate he will be around 40-50lbs when fully grown. Zion is part of our National Park Puppies. He and his siblings came into an overcrowded Central California animal shelter with their mom while they were still nursing. After a month under the shelter's care, they were at risk of euthanasia, simply due to a lack of space. We were so grateful to be able to save all the puppies and their mom (adoptable Sienna). They are all thriving in foster care and are looking for individual homes so that they can get the one-on-one training they need. Their mom looks to be an Australian shepherd/German shepherd mix and weighs about 45lbs. We don't know who their dad is, but we guess that he is a staffie mix based on what the puppies look like. Zion is the easygoing lover boy of the group. He is the only male available for adoption. He is a confident and curious guy who can't wait to be your new sidekick for whatever the day brings. He would love a family that will take him on lots of adventures and keep his busy mind and body occupied with lots of fun games and playtime. Zion is a big fan of wrestle time with his sisters and giving kisses. He is very food-motivated and smart, and would very much enjoy puppy classes to help him to continue to learn all of his basic manners. Zion has done great living with other dogs, both big and small, and could do great with a playful dog sibling or as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with other dogs. Zion has been doing well living with dog-savvy kitties and older kids. He could be a wonderful family dog for a family with kids 7 years and older. Zion is still working on her housetraining and will need a family committed to helping him learn. He has been doing well sleeping in a crate at night and for short-periods during the day. He has never been completely alone, so he would need a family that can slowly acclimate him to being comfortable being home alone. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
