5/30/2026 Meet Rudy — A Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever Person Rudy is an adorable 9 year old black and tan long coat Chihuahua with a soft spirit and a heart full of love. He’s a 7lb sweet, cuddly, and happiest when he’s snuggled up beside his favorite human. Oh he's camara shy too! 🌟 Personality Rudy may be a little shy at first and appreciates a slow, gentle introduction. Once he feels safe, he bonds deeply and becomes the most loyal little shadow you could ask for. He loves a cozy bed, a sunny spot to lounge in, and quiet companionship throughout the day. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs. 🐶 Home Habits Rudy is wonderfully easy to live with: • House trained — outdoors or pee pads (continued pee pad access is important at first). He may have an occasional accident, especially in a new home. A belly band is recommended initially if he marks. • Crate trained • Great in the car • Sleeps quietly through the night • Would absolutely love the chance to sleep in a human bed for extra cuddles He would do well in a calm home with older, respectful children. Rudy is a gentle boy who thrives in a peaceful, predictable environment. ❤Medical Information Rudy has a grade 3 heart murmur and was diagnosed with mild heart disease following an echocardiogram. He will need to remain on his heart medications for life. His monthly medication cost is approximately $85 for a 30 day supply. Current Medication Plan: • Pimobendan (Vetmedin) 1.25 mg — 1 tablet AM, ½ tablet PM • Enalapril 2.5 mg — ½ tablet every 12 hours • Amlodipine 2.5 mg — ¼ tablet once daily in the PM Additional Notes: • Rudy has an increased anesthesia risk. Regular tooth brushing is important to help avoid future dental procedures. • If anesthesia is ever required, a risk/benefit assessment and modified protocol will be needed. • Recheck echocardiogram in 6 months, or sooner if he develops coughing, exercise intolerance, fainting, or a resting respiratory rate consistently above 30 breaths per minute. Despite his heart condition, Rudy is stable, happy, and ready to enjoy life with someone who will cherish him.
