Despite his difficult beginning, he has remained a gentle, curious, and loving young dog who is eager to find a family of his own. • Medical History: No known medical issues. Clean 4Dx Plus results for heartworm disease and three common tick-borne infections: Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis. • Current Health Status: Healthy • Allergies/Sensitivities: None observed • Parasite Prevention: Receives monthly parasite prevention year-round, including during colder months • Diet: Beef-based premium kibble, such as The Honest Kitchen or Open Farm • Favorite Treats: Any treats! Milky is very food motivated. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 SOCIAL LIFE • Adults: Milky can be shy with strangers at first and may avoid being touched by people he does not know. However, he is curious about people and warms up over a few meetings, especially if treats are involved. Once he trusts you, he becomes very affectionate, follows his foster family around, and gently asks for attention. • Children: Milky may freeze or become startled when children run directly toward him. When uncomfortable, he tends to hide behind his foster family’s legs. • Dogs: Milky has encountered larger dogs on walks and does well with gentle greetings. He enjoys dogs his own size or smaller and may bark to invite them to play. 🏡 HOME LIFE • Alone Time: Milky is currently left alone for 3–4 hours on weekdays. On weekends, he is rarely left alone but has done well for up to 8 hours. No separation anxiety has been observed. When left alone, he enjoys playing with toys. • Exercise Needs: Milky currently enjoys about 40 minutes of walking in the morning and at least 30 minutes at night. He would thrive with regular walks, hiking trails, park visits, or playtime in a securely fenced area. • Sleeping & Resting: Milky rests in the living room or bedroom and has been allowed on furniture. At night, he likes sleeping at the foot of the bed. 🎓 TRAINING & MANNERS • Potty Training: Fully outdoor potty trained • Leash Skills: Walks calmly on leash. Supervision is recommended, as he may try to eat scraps from the street. • Crate Training: Not yet crate trained • Car Rides: May drool on car rides longer than 10 minutes. Breaks are recommended for longer drives. • Grooming & Handling: Dental brushing is practiced about three times a week. He dislikes baths but tolerates them. 🔊 BEHAVIOR NOTES • Barking: Has only barked a few times in his current foster home • Separation Anxiety: None observed • Destructive Behaviors: None observed 🎾 PERSONALITY & FAVORITE THINGS Milky is a sweet, food-motivated young dog who starts off a little shy but becomes deeply affectionate once he feels safe. He enjoys being near his people, watching the world around him, and playing with friendly dogs. • Favorite Activities: Walks, watching people at the park, being near his people, playing with friendly dogs, and earning treats • Favorite Toys: Squeaky balls • Affection Style: Shy at first, then very affectionate and loyal once he feels safe • Fun Quirks: Milky sometimes taps a person’s hand to ask for pets and likes waiting outside the bathroom for his foster family. 💕 IDEAL HOME He is best suited for adopters who understand that he may be shy with new people at first but quickly blossoms with patience, treats, and positive experiences. Once he feels safe, Milky becomes an affectionate companion who loves following his people and being involved in daily life. A home with very young children who frequently run toward dogs or have difficulty respecting a dog’s space may not be the best fit, as sudden approaches can make him uncomfortable. Milky is the type of dog who quietly captures your heart. Allow him a little time to adjust, and you’ll gain a devoted companion eager to share life’s adventures—and your couch—with the people he loves.
