Smidge is an older, small Chihuahua girl in Bryan, TX. She’s 12 years and 1 month old and has been spayed. Smidge is house trained and gets along with dogs, cats, and considerate kids. Born April 18, she’s a persistent Aries who won’t let her health issues dampen her spirit.

About Smidge

Smidge was found abandoned by the roadside but hasn’t let a rough start slow her down. At 12 years old, she still greets every meal with a happy dance and loves nothing more than curling up for a snuggle. Tiny and full of character, Smidge does well with dogs of all sizes, mostly ignores cats, and handles respectful children well; even though she can't hear, she is unbothered by noisy environments. Smidge recently had a cancerous mammary tumor removed and still needs surgery for additional masses, plus dental work, but she first needs to finish heartworm treatment. Her heart is delicate and she’s had some fluid in her lungs, so her future surgeries depend on how she responds to treatment. Because of her heart condition, Smidge is now considered a hospice case. She is looking for a home with someone experienced in caring for hospice dogs and able to provide her comfort and love through her remaining time. Smidge must stay within Texas and can’t be flown, and she’ll only be ready to go home after summer once her heartworm care is done. She has shown her resilience; now she just needs a soft place to land. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
