About Big Mama

Big Mama is an affectionate, strong, athletic American Staffordshire Terrier mix looking for an active home. She’s about 3 years old and lives for walks, sunbathing, and racing around the yard—though she’s happiest cuddled up next to someone at the end of the day. Rescued after being found in the middle of a road, Big Mama overcame tough odds and avoided euthanasia thanks to caring people watching out for her. She’s dropped from over 70 lbs to a healthier 60 lbs, but don’t let her size fool you: she zips around outside and has even been known to jump onto tables to catch some rays. Big Mama is house and crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and knows basic commands like sit and shake. She gets along with most dogs, but tends to do best with medium or large male dogs. She’s dominant with female dogs and would thrive as an only dog or with the right male canine companion. Because she is playful and sometimes doesn’t realize her strength, she’s a better fit for homes without young children. Big Mama enjoys attention and affection and will make a loyal adventure partner for someone who wants a smart and loving dog. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
