AvailableAbout Birdie Mae
Some dogs believe in independence. Birdie Mae believes that if you're walking to the kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry room, or simply turning around in your own house, she should probably come too. You know...for safety reasons. She is basically sunshine wrapped in fur, with a master's degree in following her humans from room to room. If you've ever wished for a loyal companion who thinks every activity is a team sport, Birdie Mae is ready to submit her application. She's equal parts goofy, affectionate, and cuddle enthusiast. She loves people, loves food, loves playtime, and loves being involved in absolutely everything you're doing. 📍 Location: Sapulpa, OK -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Birdie Mae is a 4-year-old, 70-pound Golden Retriever who arrived in rescue after her family could no longer keep her. Now, before we continue, Birdie would like everyone to know that the number on the scale may be slightly inflated due to what she refers to as "luxury fluff." She has no further comments at this time. Like many Goldens, Birdie Mae firmly believes that life is best experienced together. Birdie is a loving goofball with a heart every bit as big as her smile. In short, Birdie Mae is the kind of dog who turns ordinary days into happier ones simply by being there. And preferably sitting on your foot while doing it. Birdie Mae approaches other dogs like the sweet girl at a family reunion who somehow ends up mothering everyone. She's been friendly with every dog she's met and seems to believe that all creatures deserve love, support, and possibly a snack. In fact, when the foster home's resident baby velociraptors (also known as puppies) were getting a little overwhelming for their exhausted mom, Birdie stepped in and attempted to help with childcare duties herself. Her credentials are questionable, but her enthusiasm was impressive. Birdie has not been formally introduced to any cats. She would probably arrive assuming they are friends until informed otherwise. Kids: Birdie has spent time around children 8 years and older and absolutely adores them. Honestly, if someone tells Birdie she's pretty, they have just become one of her favorite people on Earth. She happily accepts compliments, affection, belly rubs, and attention in any form. The only thing potential families with very small children should know is that Birdie occasionally forgets she's carrying around 70 pounds of Golden Retriever enthusiasm. She would never intentionally knock over a child, but if she's on a mission to deliver emergency hugs, innocent bystanders may find themselves gently booped by a large fluffy missile. You should also know that Birdie does not believe in strangers. As far as she's concerned, every person she meets is simply a long-lost friend who got separated from her at some point and is finally making their way back. Energy Level: 4/10. She enjoys playtime, walks, and adventures with her people, but at her core, Birdie is a professional homebody. Now, with that said, Birdie subscribes to the belief that if her person is going somewhere, she should probably go too. She hops into vehicles willingly and settles in like a seasoned road-trip companion. When it comes to going for walks, well lets just say that Birdie loves her leash so much she'll actually bring it to you. Yes. You read that correctly. Some people spend years convincing their dogs to walk nicely. Birdie is already standing by the door asking if you'd like to discuss your walking schedule. Overall personality? Lovebug. She loves people. She loves other dogs. She loves snacks. She loves cuddles. Birdie is basically a golden-colored shadow that quietly follows you from room to room making sure you're okay and periodically checking whether you're available for hugs. And if you're not currently available? She'll patiently wait nearby until you come to your senses. Toys? Absolutely. Birdie enjoys toys and playtime, though cuddling still ranks slightly higher on her list of favorite activities. Now, we should also mention that Birdie firmly believes thunderstorms are a personal attack. When the sky starts making questionable life choices, she prefers medication, cuddles, and reassurance from her support humans. Thankfully, her storm anxiety is manageable, especially when paired with the proper treatment and plenty of love. Other than that, she's generally a happy-go-lucky girl who doesn't spend her days inventing problems. Birdie Mae has reached a stage in life where she's pretty sure she's got things figured out. For starters, she doesn't need a giant yard to be happy. Sure, she enjoys spending time outside, but unlike some dogs who believe every backyard is merely a launching point for future adventures, Birdie is perfectly content hanging out indoors with her family. A house with a fenced yard would be lovely, but an apartment with regular walks would suit her just fine too. Her favorite place isn't the backyard anyway—it's wherever her people happen to be. She's fully potty trained, has excellent house manners, and appears to have retired from the typical dog hobbies of chewing things, stealing socks, and making questionable life choices. Honestly, Birdie's level of responsibility is making some humans look a little bad. She has earned full free-roam privileges in her foster home because she simply doesn't cause trouble. While many dogs spend their alone time conducting unauthorized home renovations or exploring the structural integrity of couch cushions, Birdie generally waits patiently under a desk or relaxes in her crate until her person returns. The biggest thing you need to know about Birdie? Birdie wants connection. She wants to be near her people. She wants to love them. She wants to be loved back. She wants to quietly follow you from room to room, rest her head on your leg, and remind you that no matter how bad your day was, someone is genuinely thrilled that you exist. Somewhere out there is a person who needs daily hugs just as much as Birdie Mae does. The only difference is Birdie is honest enough to admit it. So if you're interested in hiring a full-time cuddle consultant, professional hug distributor, part-time leash carrier, and certified Good Girl, you'll need to fill out an adoption application so we can send it over to Birdie's foster family for review. Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Please note that submitting an application is required. Unfortunately, repeatedly commenting "OMG I LOVE HER" on Facebook does not legally constitute an adoption application, despite what the internet may have led you to believe. Also, Birdie Mae is currently located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and her future family will need to come pick her up themselves. She has many wonderful qualities, but operating a vehicle is not one of them. Trust us—one hug from Birdie Mae and you'll understand why everyone who meets her falls in love.
