About Grandpa Rex

Grandpa Rex has traveled quite a journey. Adopted from Los Angeles Animal Services - North Central Shelter in 2014, he recently returned through no fault of his own after his previous owner was arrested. Now twelve years old, Rex arrived at the shelter as a true senior and was immediately seen by the vet, who found a large abdominal mass. He is receiving care for skin and ear infections while his team monitors his comfort and wellbeing before planning further treatment or palliative support. After weeks on a hard shelter floor, Rex needs a foster home right away so he can rest in comfort. He's a large, black-coated Labrador with an easy nature—known to get along with dogs, cats, and children. Despite the medical uncertainty ahead, Rex is gentle and well-mannered, looking for a soft spot to land in his golden years. His birthday falls under Gemini, so expect a dog with a curious and adaptable spirit even now. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
