About Sal
Sal is the kind of cat who will make you wonder how anyone could leave him behind. He’s a striking large black cat with a small white patch under his chin, and his story is not an easy one. After being transferred from animal control, Sal was found to be FIV positive and dealing with severe respiratory issues—problems that have required endless rounds of tests, treatment, and care. The journey involved specialist visits, radiographs, and even a deep nasal procedure, but his aggressive pneumonia remains stubborn. Sal still faces recurring congestion, and his long-term management needs are not fully defined. Yet Sal has stayed himself through it all—cheerful, social, and eager for affection. He greets everyone warmly, openly asks for love, and acts with a kind of simple sweetness that doesn’t need explaining. Months in quarantine haven’t broken his spirit, though he’s spent too much time watching the world from behind a closed door. Now enjoying a private room, he’s ready for better: a home of his own. Sal’s adoption isn’t the easiest. He’s FIV positive, and his health outlook is uncertain. Still, he lives with resilience—enjoys his food, responds to attention, and is outwardly content. Nobody can promise you an easy road with him, but anyone can see what a loving, deserving companion he is. Middle-aged and waiting far too long, Sal is hoping for someone who sees past the diagnosis to the soul of a wonderful cat. Sal is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea/tick treated. Fun fact: with a birthday of February 26, Sal is a Pisces, so you can expect a soft heart beneath that stoic demeanor. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
