Hey there! My name’s Dixie Mae and I’m the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet. I’m a Labrador/Boston Terrier mix with a few others sprinkled in for good measure. I’m currently a svelte 38 lbs and at my age, about 3–4 years, I’ll stay right around that size. I’ve lived with other small dogs and got along with them just fine, though I’m really enjoying the only-dog lifestyle these days. I’m a very polite young lady. I know that indoors is for playing and eating, while outdoors is where the bathroom is located—and I’ll let you know when I need to go. I’m a bit of a private lady, so I don’t love an audience for potty time, and I rarely stop for bathroom breaks on walks. I really love food and treats, but I’m gentle and not protective of my food with people. I haven’t had a ton of experience with people, so I can be a little standoffish at first, but once you show me you’re there for me, I’ll be so happy to see you every time. I don’t love when people stand over me, but I’ll just politely step back to where I feel comfortable. I don’t know any tricks just yet, but I’m very food-motivated, so with a little patience I’m sure I can learn anything you’d like to teach me. I love a good nap and can snooze just about anywhere, though a comfy bed is always my favorite. I know furniture is for humans, but if you invite me up on the couch, I’ll remember that special spot is mine. I love my crate and will happily sleep there or relax in it while you’re away. I do snore a little when I’m really relaxed—probably because of my adorable underbite! I enjoy going on walks, but I like to stay close to my person, just in case I’m needed.
