About Van Gogh

Name: Van Gogh Breed: Domestic Short Hair Sex: Neutered Male Age: 5 years Weight: 14 lbs Animal Number: 4316 Loving, Cuddly, Chill, Brave, Dog in a Cat Body - Has Medical Needs Good with dogs? Yes, Van Gogh is great with the three large dogs in his foster home, occasionally kisses them, and just wants to be their friend. He has also met and liked a small dog. Good with cats? Yes, he befriended three adult male cats in his foster home. He loves to give kisses, cuddle, and wrestle playfully. Good with kids? Not Tested, but he would likely be just fine with kids of any age as long as they are kind to kitties. He is sweet and gentle. Energy level: Medium. He’s very brave and up for almost anything, but will spend most of his day window watching or cuddling. He’s not overly excited by toys, but he does love a good scratching post and his window hammock! He gets daily zoomies and will streak through the house, playing with one of his cat friends. Medical needs: Van Gogh is FIV+. FIV is a feline-only retrovirus that affects a cat’s immune system. An adopter should be aware that FIV can make a cat more vulnerable to other medical issues because their immune system is not as strong as an FIV negative cat. FIV is not transferable to humans or dogs and can only be transferred to other cats through a deep cat bite. Van Gogh is also deaf due to a bilateral ear canal removal procedure to resolve longtime infections. He is not bothered at all by being deaf. fHe’s had a dental cleaning with many of his teeth removed, and he does wonderfully with a daily application of a dental gel called Maxiguard to protect his remaining teeth. Animal Characteristics: Van Gogh is an absolutely wonderful, special, loving, chill, brave cat who acts like a friendly dog! He is super cuddly, loves petting and belly rubs, greatly appreciates being cared for, and has been a sweetheart during his health care procedures. He’s easy to handle and is happy to go to the veterinarian because he gets to meet all kinds of new friends every time he goes! He truly shines when he’s meeting new friends. Van Gogh loves a tidy litterbox and appreciates scooping 2-3x a day, just like tidy humans flush every time we go. He’s one of the most adorable, affectionate, coolest cats that anyone could meet, and his adopter will be so lucky to have him as a forever best friend!
