About Gurdy

Gurdy is a 2.5-year-old bully mix—about 35 pounds—who is looking for a home that values loyalty and a steady routine. She arrived as a stray and, despite her young age, she already sports a bit of gray on her muzzle. That gives her a wise look, and her personality is all about warmth and quiet curiosity once she trusts you. Gurdy is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and has been successfully treated for heartworm. The rescue will support her care if heartworm were ever to return. This girl is a true companion. She’s done well living with other dogs and is comfortable in a multi-dog environment, navigating it without drama. She enjoys her walks and hikes but is just as happy to spend rainy days on the couch. Gurdy loves car rides and handles her crate well, though she doesn’t really need it. Gurdy is deeply loyal but not bossy or needy. She handles alone time without separation anxiety or anxiety-driven chaos. Leash manners are solid, whether she’s wearing a collar or harness, and she’d do best with a fenced yard as she’s settling in, though she sticks close by nature. One thing to note: Gurdy cannot safely free-feed or share food around cats. She has food resource guarding tendencies and was involved in a fatal incident involving an outdoor cat and her food. Homes with cats could be considered only if they are highly experienced, structured, and committed to strict separation during feeding times. She does fine around cats outside of food but must always be managed carefully. Scheduled feedings work best for her. More of a “let’s hike then relax” kind of dog, Gurdy isn’t looking for an owner who wants a high-activity partner. What she wants is somewhere she belongs. Click apply to start the adoption process.
