About Big Carrot
Big Carrot is a large dog who has had a hard time coping in the shelter. The environment has left him overwhelmed and often shut down, but with a patient handler outside of his kennel, his gentler side sometimes comes through—he’ll lean in for affection, show soft tail wags, and can get playful with toys. He bonds with people he trusts and has real potential for connection if handled with care. Behaviorally, Big Carrot is deeply fearful of his environment and reactive behind barriers or with strangers. He’s high energy at times and needs a handler who has significant experience working with behavioral cases, ideally a rescue or adopter prepared for ongoing support. Young children aren’t the right match for him, but he responds well to verbal redirection and is easy to leash and handle for those he knows. His best chance is in a quiet home with slow, structured introductions. A signed waiver is required upon exit. Big Carrot is rescue only, not available for general adoption or fostering. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
