Shana is a young black Lab mix who’s had a rough start, growing up with minimal human contact in a group of 17 dogs and learning to get by on her own. She’s just over a year and a half old and is still figuring out that life doesn't have to be about survival. Shelter life overwhelms her; she stays cautious and reserved, waiting for the world to prove it’s safe. Shana needs a calm, patient environment where nobody’s in a rush for her to play or cuddle on day one—she wants a gentle transition and time to decompress. Because she’s nervous and startles easily, she’ll need a very secure home and a mindful routine. She’s got prey drive and remains wary, but lights up with other dogs around. Having a friendly, confident dog buddy to learn from would help her gain trust and settle in faster.
