Shana
AvailableShana is a female Labrador Retriever/mixed breed with a medium build, currently in Tucson, AZ. She’s young—just about a year and seven months old—and has been spayed. Shana especially enjoys the company of other dogs and thrives in secure, patient environments where she has time to adjust. She is available for adoption or foster care through PACC.
About Shana
Shana is a young black Lab mix who’s had a rough start, growing up with minimal human contact in a group of 17 dogs and learning to get by on her own. She’s just over a year and a half old and is still figuring out that life doesn't have to be about survival. Shelter life overwhelms her; she stays cautious and reserved, waiting for the world to prove it’s safe. Shana needs a calm, patient environment where nobody’s in a rush for her to play or cuddle on day one—she wants a gentle transition and time to decompress. Because she’s nervous and startles easily, she’ll need a very secure home and a mindful routine. She’s got prey drive and remains wary, but lights up with other dogs around. Having a friendly, confident dog buddy to learn from would help her gain trust and settle in faster. If you want to foster or adopt, you'll need to visit PACC in Tucson, AZ before close of business on Friday, January 9th, 2026, to meet with a counselor and see if you and Shana are a good match. Some intros with household dogs may be required if you’re considering co-adoption. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Shana
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Labrador Retriever mixes like Shana generally do well in homes that provide structure, security, and enough space to move about. They are flexible but benefit from calm settings, especially for dogs with cautious personalities.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Shana, as a Labrador Retriever mix, will need routine outdoor time for walks and play, but a backyard is not essential if she gets regular exercise. Secure fencing is important given her flighty disposition.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Labrador Retriever mixes, including Shana, are often good with children, but due to her shyness and need for a quiet environment, a home with older, respectful kids who understand boundaries would be advisable.
