About Cashmere

This sweet girl is submissive and absolutely needs a companion dog to teach her confidence. She is about a year old and 40ish pounds. She is bonded with Bramble and they are such a sweet easy pair. Cashmere is one year old and around 42 pounds. Cashmere update: She appears to not be used to being inside a house. She is currently working on getting used to being in a house and using a crate as her safe place. She passes right out inside her crate. She loves being outside in the backyard! She was perfectly fine with the foster's dog. She gave him a warning growl and that was all they ever did She will be excellent for someone who will continue to slowly introduce her using a crate as a safe place and have patience for her self esteem. Cashmere is a very good girl. She is housetrained but very nervous inside. She needs about a day to adjust to each new room. Hard floors scare her and she will rush your exits. She loves being outside but is an escape artist. Three redundant fences finally kept her in. She doesn't really go far when she gets away. More like she is looking for something. She LOVES to walk. She prefers that you witness her at all times, even when outside. Definite Velcro dog. Sleeps great in a crate. Actually prefers the crate when she is anxious too. Good with calm people and kids. Non reactive to several dogs and chickens. Only interested in people, could care less about other dogs. Would be good in a home that will be patient as she gets over her initial fear. Nothing to worry about that we could see. Non aggressive and not destructive. Foster Update 4/25/26: Cashmere is a sweet and gentle soul who is steadily finding her confidence in a home environment. While she was initially quite intimidated by being indoors - spending her first few days strictly within the safety of her crate - she has made wonderful progress. We noticed it's better to give her time to muster up the courage to cross a doorway on her own than to encourage her (doorways and narrow hallways are especially scary!). **Outdoor Adventures & Training** In contrast to her initial indoor hesitation, Cashmere is a "natural" once she steps outside. She is a joy to walk, displaying excellent leash manners and staying highly attuned to her handler's cues and direction. Additionally, she is fully house-trained, making her a polite and easy houseguest. She doesn't seem to know any tricks but she knows how to behave in a home. **Human Connection** Cashmere truly loves people and seeks out human companionship. While she is friendly with everyone she's familiar with (she's initially wary of strangers but lets them pet her). **Ideal Home Setup** To help Cashmere continue her transition into a confident household companion, we recommend skipping the crate in the beginning. We've found that providing her with a comfortable bed instead of an enclosed space encourages her to explore her environment more freely and helps her realize that the whole house is a safe place to be.
