Found a forever home!
Tucker
Found a forever home!Tucker is a young, small male Shih Tzu mix currently in Gainesville, VA. He hasn't been house trained yet, and he's already neutered with vaccinations up to date. Tucker does not get along with cats but does get along with other dogs, though he needs guidance with canine social boundaries.
About Tucker
Tucker is a scrappy little survivor who made it out of the Texas streets after a rough encounter with some larger dogs. Only two years old and weighing about 12 lbs, he's now safe in a foster home in Delaware, waiting to find a lasting family of his own. Tucker is a true shadow dog. He always wants to be near his person and gets genuinely sad if separated—even a closed gate is too much. Expect plenty of loving stares, kisses, and requests to be picked up and cuddled. This guy is all about play: toys, balls, and boundless energy. Tucker has a cheeky side, especially with other dogs—he loves to play but doesn't always pick up on canine boundaries and can get a bit bossy. He also talks back if corrected and needs an experienced owner who can set clear rules. Because of his sometimes pushy play style and habit of nipping during play, Tucker will do best as an only dog or with another assertive dog who won't let him take over. He should go to a home with kids older than 10, as he’s still learning manners. He has not done well with cats. Tucker is ready for someone who will keep up his training, understand his quirks, and embrace his affectionate spirit. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Tucker
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Tucker is a Shih Tzu mix who adapts best to homes where he gets plenty of attention and companionship. He thrives in environments with engaged owners and can do well in apartments or houses as long as his need for affection and play are met.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
As a small Shih Tzu mix, Tucker doesn't need a large yard but benefits from regular walks and playtime. Access to a safe, fenced area is great but not required if he gets his daily exercise.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Tucker would do best in a home with older children, since he still nips and plays rough. Generally, Shih Tzu mixes can be wonderful for gentle, dog-savvy kids.
