Pluto, 9 weeks (estimated DOB March 2026), male, Chihuahua/Terrier mix, currently 3 pounds, but will continue to grow. He is in a foster home in AUSTIN, TEXAS and able to transport once he is matched to an adopter. Pluto and his crew of 9 other puppies were found abandoned on the streets of Houston. You can imagine how much smaller they all were when they were found and we have no idea why someone would dump innocent puppies. Pluto is a tiny puppy with a huge personality and even bigger heart! This little guy is full of energy, curiosity, and affection. He’s a little scrappy, loves collecting every toy and chewy he can find, and always seems ready for his next adventure. Once you pick him up, though, he melts right into you and becomes an incredibly snuggly cuddle bug who loves being held and showered with attention. As a young puppy, Pluto is still learning all about the world and will need a family committed to helping him grow into a confident, well-mannered adult dog. He is already showing himself to be a brave, social little pup, and we believe he will do well with kids, cats, and other dogs when introduced appropriately. Because of his tiny size, it’s important that any other pets in the home are gentle and experienced with very small dogs, and that all interactions are supervised. We do not know who Pluto’s parents are, so we cannot predict what breeds make up his mix or how large he will be once fully grown. Adopters should be prepared for some mystery and lots of puppy surprises along the way! Like all puppies his age, Pluto is still working on potty training and crate training. His new family should expect to continue consistent training, frequent potty breaks, positive reinforcement, and patience as he learns. Puppies thrive with structure, routine, and supervision, and Pluto is no exception. Because he is so young, Pluto cannot be left alone for long periods of time. We are looking for homes where someone is home more often than not to help with socialization, training, and care. If you work outside the home for more than 4 hours at a time, we will not be able to consider your application unless there is another adult in the household available to care for him during the day. If that applies to your home, please be sure to explain your puppy care plan in your application. Pluto is looking for a family ready for all the joy, chaos, laughter, and love that comes with raising a tiny puppy — and in return, he promises a lifetime of kisses, cuddles, and adorable mischief. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
