About Trixie

Trixie is a loving 4-year-old, 12 lb Yorkie mix looking for her forever home. Trixie is an affectionate little lap dog who loves deeply and bonds very closely with her person. She is incredibly loving, cuddly, and affectionate, always happiest curled up next to her favorite human. She’s also adventurous, clever, communicative, food motivated, and very engaged with her people. Trixie enjoys going on walks, does well on leash, is making great progress with potty training. Once she feels safe and comfortable, she has a chill, snuggly personality and loves nothing more than being close and cozy with her person. In her limited interactions with cats, she has not shown reactivity. Last year, our rescuers in Bakersfield heard that someone was standing outside a store yelling that they had “free dogs.” Wanting to make sure the dogs were safe, fixed, vaccinated, and eventually placed into good homes, our rescuers rushed over to help. When they arrived, they found Trixie and her four puppies drenched, frightened, and shaking in the cold rain. Our rescuers immediately brought the little family to safety and placed them into foster care, where Trixie could finally relax and care for her babies in a warm, loving environment. She proved to be a devoted mama while raising her puppies until they were old enough to be weaned and find homes of their own. Trixie was later adopted and spent a little over a year in a home, but she has now been surrendered back to Shelter Hope. While Trixie is incredibly loving and devoted to her person, she can be protective and tends to guard people. She is selective with other dogs and can be wary of strangers, so Trixie would do best as the only pet in a one-person home. Trixie has so much love to give and deserves a patient, understanding home where she can finally safe, secure, and cherished forever. ---- Looking to Adopt?
