Meet Charlie, a 10 month old Border Collie/Kelpie mix! Charlie came to us as a stray and went unclaimed by his former family. We can tell from his body condition that he has had a rough start in life, but he is now on to bigger and better things and is not letting his past hinder his hopes for the future. Named after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for his gorgeous chocolate coloring, this boy lives up to his name every bit with his fantastic attitude! Charlie is a fun-loving, curious young pup who's ready to take on the world and experience adventures and a fantastical journey through this grand world, hoping his enduring spirit will win him big things in life like it did for his namesake. Due to our lack of history on this guy, we can't say right now how he does with dogs or cats. While he might currently be a bit of a mystery when it comes to other dogs, he is definitely a people "person." Sometimes he is timid at the start, but within 30 seconds, he will be all over you if you prove you are gentle, trustworthy, and up for as good a time as he likes to have! Just keep in mind that direct touch can still be a bit overwhelming for him even after he accepts your presence. Playfully running alongside him, with periodic, quick petting, (and, of course, treats!) is the most effective key to his heart right now, though in time, he will grow more and more used to typical human-to-dog contact and handling. As stated, Charlie loves to run and will need an active owner willing to keep up with him and his endless energy. He can also often be found sniffing out the next exciting scent or curiously exploring things (toys don't seem to interest him much at the moment), though interacting with people is by far his favorite activity of all, as long as it's done within his boundaries until he is fully comfortable with you! This handsome fella has had his first round of vaccinations and is now officially up for adoption and ready to get the heck outta here! Just be mindful that he will need a lot of dedication and training. He is still young and is very eager to please. So a committed person should be able to work with him and end up with a true golden ticket of a dog. Just do your research first and make sure you have the time and energy it will take for a working breed such as this, as these breeds are not couch potatoes. While he will definitely cuddle and chill, and truly loves to do so, he will need substantial exercise before he's ready to settle in to snuggle and watch TV -even if the oh-so-magical Willy Wonka is what's on tap for movie night! Charlie's enthusiastic nature and a playful spirit are sure to bring a smile to your face. With his goofy grins and boundless enthusiasm, he will be your loyal companion through thick and thin. So, if you're looking for a furry friend to join you on all your expeditions (though make sure he's not imbibing of any chocolate when at the factory, as that's very toxic for a pupper), he's your guy!
