About Tater

Tater’s thyroid bloodwork is not consistent with hypothyroidism at this time. Based on these findings, further diagnostics are recommended to evaluate for hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing’s Disease). If testing for Cushing’s Disease is negative, follow-up with a veterinary dermatologist is recommended to further investigate the underlying cause of his clinical signs and ongoing dermatologic concerns. Fur present is soft and full; skin is clean, with significant alopecia affecting the muzzle, face, dorsal neck, pinna, caudal 2/3 of the body, all four limbs, and entire tail, with associated hyperpigmentation and a few scattered scabs noted throughout affected areas. Due to the extent of Tater’s dermatologic disease, ongoing diagnostic work-up, long-term medical management, and specialty follow-up care needed beyond what can reasonably be provided in the shelter setting, Tater is currently at risk for euthanasia. If interested in assisting Tater, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back.
