Meet Luca, the 1 year old black fuzzy CAT-erpillar. This sweet boy was surrendered to us after his owner was no longer able to care for him. He is the sweetest kitty who is a total social butterfly. His previous owner noted that Luca liked to play fetch with plastic rings and enjoyed cuddling and hanging out with his kitty friends. Here at the shelter he has been a total love-bug with our staff and volunteers. He head buts to solicit pets and rolls on his back while getting scritches. While Luca spent time around cats before, we always recommend a slow introduction with resident cats to make sure they have the best chance of getting along. If you are looking for a fluffy curious companion, come by to the shelter and say “hi” today! Luca's adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards often overlooked black cats in the Shelter waiting for the purrfect home. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them
