About Gambit

Gambit Hello HSHC fans! You may remember my first interview with the interviewer lady (IL) back in September ‘25. I was relating that this wasn’t my first rodeo. In 2015, my owner surrendered me to the shelter, and he is the one who had all four of my paws declawed. I was adopted and lived with my next family for seven years. But they surrendered me back to the shelter on August 30, ‘25. I am now 14 years, 9 months, and I have been living in foster homes ever since September. My first foster mom (FFM) felt my name wasn’t feminine enough and called me Rosebud. I was quite a bit heavier then, 19 pounds. But she said I was large, lovely, sweet-natured, and affectionate. I have a big purr motor that runs when I am being brushed, petted, and touched. I was a hot mess when I arrived at the shelter with live fleas and mats in my coat. But FFM made sure I was clean and brushed. Then I moved to a new foster home with my second FM (SFM) and have been there for the last four months. They call me Gammie, which is much more ladylike. I use my litter box well, but it helps if my foster parents give me positive reinforcement. I am a "purr machine," and it starts vibrating as soon as you touch me. I also make a cute trilling sound when I’m excited! So far, I have spent nearly all my time in my room, where I have everything I need. I have met with all the roommates and their other pets, and we get along just fine. The great news is I have lost weight and am down to 15 pounds. Even though I have arthritis, I can navigate the house and jump up onto higher surfaces without hesitation. Everyone I meet says I am a sweetheart and that I deserve a loving, forever home. I would love to spend the rest of my life being petted and purring on someone’s lap. 3-25-26
