Juliet How do you do? I am a lovely 15 years-old Calico cat. I feel a bit too old to be at the HSHC. I lived with my first family for 14 years, 7 years with one branch and 7 years with another. Then I was adopted in May 2025 and lived with this owner for a year before being returned to the HSHC on April 16, 2026. All four of my paws were declawed when I was 1-year-old. This is probably why I now have arthritis pain in my hips and lower back. The HSHC found that I had bone fragments in my paws and provided repair surgery to my feet. The medical staff gave me medicine to relieve the pain and told me I needed to lose weight. I have gone from almost 14 pounds to 9.1 pounds, which helps relieve pressure on my feet, back, and hips. A low-sided litterbox with soft, fine-grained litter will be much easier on my tootsies and less painful. All of my owners have reported that I am a very affectionate girl; I like to play and be held. My most recent owner was moving out of state and couldn’t take me with her. She said I am a very snuggly girl and I like to be with her as much as possible. I don’t like loud noises, and I prefer a calm, quiet, peaceful environment. I have lived with two large-breed dogs for 7 years and did very well with them. However, living with a male cat for a few months was not my cup of tea. When the interviewer lady (IL) stopped by, I was dozing in my Kasa, but I got out of bed and let her pet my head and scratch my chin. I began purring as soon as she rubbed my neck. I can be somewhat reserved with strangers. But once I get to know you, I'm a love-bug. I have no destructive tendencies, and though I may object a bit when I go into my cat carrier, it is pretty easy to get me inside. The only thing that makes me unhappy is stress. As long as my home is peaceful and loving, with a predictable schedule, and plenty of cuddle time, I am a happy girl. Packing up for a move, changing locations often, and a noisy, hectic environment, cause me so much stress that it can make me unwell. In late April, I met with two potential adopters. I was affectionate and engaging, walking around the room showing off my gorgeous coat. They found out that I like catnip and I enjoy being with people. Sadly, they didn’t choose me. I hope someone will ignore my age (I don’t look a day over 8) and give me another chance at happiness. 5-19-26
