About Chicharron
Chicharron is one of those dogs that quietly raises the bar for what a companion should be. After over a year in the shelter, he’s had every reason to give up, but he’s still patiently hoping for a real home or even a foster. When you finally meet him, it’s baffling that he’s been overlooked—his presence is calm, his play style respectful, and he brings just the right amount of fun to the room. Whether it’s playing fetch (his clear favorite) or taking up space on the couch as a laid-back snuggle partner, Chicharron strikes a rare balance between playful and easygoing. In playgroups, he makes friends easily—even with smaller dogs. But his best qualities show up in a home setting. On a volunteer sleepover, he instantly slipped into a regular routine: fully house-trained, zero accidents, sleeping through the night, happily cuddling up for downtime, and adapting quickly to crate time. He matched the vibe—peaceful, calm, medium energy—happiest just being near someone kind. He’s up for adventures too; a stroll through UT campus had him delighting in all the sights, and he won over everyone he met. He truly doesn’t care if it’s an apartment or a house with a yard—what he really wants is to leave shelter life behind and join someone’s daily routine. Chicharron is ready to move forward. He’s waited, he’s shown his best self, and now he just needs a chance. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
