About Gus
Gus is a 5-year-old mix of Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd, and Golden Retriever with a tricolor coat. He lands somewhere between active and laid-back—he loves daily walks and outside time as much as curling up on the couch for a lazy afternoon. At 85 lbs and with a medium-length coat, he’s solid and striking, and he’ll always catch your eye lounging in the yard. Though Gus has lived around younger kids, he really shines in a home with adults or older children. He tends to be selective about his dog friends and would likely do best as the only canine—he’s happiest when he’s the center of attention. He does appreciate structure and routine and settles in nicely when there’s clear guidance at home. A fenced yard would be a big plus for Gus, giving him space to roam, sniff, and stretch out. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Gus is being fostered in Warrenville, IL and all adoptions must be local to Illinois, with meet-and-greets scheduled for approved adopters. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Gus
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Gus, being a mix of Great Pyrenees, Golden Retriever, and German Shepherd, thrives in homes with access to a yard and a family who enjoys both activity and quiet time. His breeds are adaptable but do best when they have structure and some outdoor space.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Gus would appreciate a fenced yard where he can move freely and stretch his legs, which matches the needs of his larger, working-breed background. Regular outdoor time is important for him to stay happy and healthy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Gus can get along with children and has lived around them, but he tends to do best with young adults or older kids who understand dogs. His large size and energy might be overwhelming for very young children.
